She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Throckmorton Sr. and her mother, Sarah Walker Throckmorton. She is survived by her son John Mayes Sr, her daughter-in-law Jean, grandson John Jr., her brother Wallace Throckmorton Jr., and her sister Katherine Miller.
Maureen grew up in Highland Springs, Virginia – working for the Virginia Department of Health until her retirement in 1995.
She enjoyed the beach – especially Sandbridge, reading, and crossword puzzles, but her happiest moments were being around her grandson, watching and helping him grow.
She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
