Sue was born on November 10, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Milton and Joan Vadnais Ohrn. She graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1974 and attended Utah State University. On October 14, 1977, she married Thomas Edward O’Connor, Jr. After the birth of their three children, they lived in Texas for several years. In 1992, they returned to Salt Lake City with their young family. Sue worked frequently as an administrative assistant, but her passionate commitment was to her extraordinary children. She was so proud of their personal integrity and close kinship. Sue fought tirelessly for her son, Chris; she was a fierce champion of dignity and equity for people with disabilities.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; her sons and daughter, Brian O’Connor (Afton), Christopher O’Connor, and Kimberly Harrison (Peter); and her grandchildren, Olivia, Van, and Oscar. Four siblings and their spouses also survive her, and her parents preceded her in death.
The O’Connor family wishes to offer sincere thanks to friends and family for their generosity, kindness, and tender care.
We will honor Sue at a celebration of her life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation in Sue’s name to Cerebral Palsy of Utah at ffiutah.org/donate
