

Robert S. Roberson, Sr. of Niceville, FL passed away surrounded by family on July 1, 2017. Robbie was born in Charleston, SC on September 5, 1941 to the late Charles Sterling Roberson, Sr. and his loving mother, Helen Kathryn Keehan Roberson. He was the eldest of seven children. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Roberson, his grandmother, Rachel Keehan, his sister, Betty Creech, and his great-uncle, Charles Winningham. He is survived by his loving companion, Mary Blanchet of Niceville, FL, and his four children, Robert Roberson, Jr. of Tempe, Arizona, Gerald Roberson (Deanna) of Brighton, MI, Elizabeth Roberson of Boulder, CO, and Jennifer Harrison of Colorado Springs, CO. Additionally, he leaves behind three sisters, Jewel Browder White of Huger, SC, Carol R. Riggs (Wilson) of Awendaw, SC, Helen Irene Ritchie (Tony) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and 2 brothers, Charles S. Roberson, Jr. (Debra) of Awendaw, SC and James S. Roberson (Michelle) of Goose Creek, SC. He is also survived by five granddaughters, Jeni Rebecca, Bailey, Alex, Saige, & Sydney, two grandsons, Jordan & Nick, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robbie received a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri and served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Major. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he worked for over 30 years at Eglin, AFB with CSA and TEAS/Jacobs Technology. He was instrumental in building the Guided Weapons Evaluation Facility (GWEF) and led the program there for many years. Robbie was a fair and generous person who helped many people throughout his lifetime. He was well known among family and friends for loving to tell stories including those about his childhood and experiences in the Air Force. He had a never-ending sense of humor and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, hunting and watching sports. He was a dedicated horseshow dad and coached a girls’ softball team for many years. He always talked fondly about that time in his life.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 6th at CrossPointe Methodist Church in Niceville, FL from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Robbie will be interred into Wilson Cemetery in Awendaw, SC at a date that has yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mt. Olivet Pentecostal Holiness Church, Doar Rd. in Awendaw, SC.
