Gyneth was born on January 27, 1936 in Tifton, GA. She was married to the love of her life, Tyler (TG) Goodwin Cox, for 64 years.
A long-time and faithful member of Oak Park Presbyterian Church and then Covenant Presbyterian Church, Gyneth had a strong and committed faith in God. She led and participated in many women’s Bible studies, taught Vacation Bible School, hosted youth activities, and enjoyed visiting the shut-ins of the congregations. She loved spending time with her church family. She was also active in the Pike Road Civic Club for many years.
Gyneth was preceded in death by her parents, Howard H. and Edith Hobbs Norman of Tifton, GA; her sister, Joyce Hall of Hilliard, FL; and her sister Carolyn Tawzer of Tifton, GA. She is survived by her husband, TG; her four daughters, Karen Brennan of Madison, AL; Jill Smith (Mike) of Gardendale, AL; Stacie Baker (Keat) of Franklin, TN; and Debbie Cox of Pike Road, AL. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren whom she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Anderson of Tifton, GA; her brother Jimmie Norman (Linda) of Tifton, GA; her brother Darrell Norman of Tifton, GA; her brother-in-law, Coy Tawzer of Tifton, GA; and
her sister-in-law, Grace Hill of Federal Way, WA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Grandsons, Richard Brennan, Tyler Waters, Graham Baker, Jeremy Waters, Travis Baker, Ethan Waters, Wesley Baker, and Deke Smith will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Keith Thompson, MD of the Montgomery Cancer Center, Brendan McGuire, MD of UAB Medicine, Carmelita DeJesus, MD, and Amedisys Hospice Care for their loving and compassionate care of Gyneth.
Gyneth touched everyone around her with her kindness, and we will miss her always.
Visitation will be held from 12 Noon – 2:00 PM at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM with Rev. Lee Bloodworth and Rev. William Joseph officiating. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to First Choice Women’s Medical Center, 380 Mendel Pkwy E, Montgomery, AL 36117 in memory of Gyneth.
Arrangements are under the direction of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home.
