Myrtle Edna Ackerson

Myrtle E. Ackerson of Newton, NJ passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023 at Clover Rest Home in Columbia, NJ. Born on December 18, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Powers. Myrtle was an avid reader and spent many days at the Dennis Library in Newton choosing books. She loved mysteries and her favorite author was John Grisham. She enjoyed watching tennis and baseball on TV but her greatest joy was her family. Myrtle is predeceased by her 3 husbands; Arthur Ackerson, Raymond Sutphin and Walter Lawrence Sheldon her 3 sisters and seven brothers. She is also predeceased by her granddaughter Jacqueline Sheldon and great-grandson Colin Michael Voss and her daughter-in -law Thelma Sheldon.

Myrtle is survived by her 3 children; Walter Lawrence Sheldon of Malvern, Arkansas, Patricia Sheldon Epstein ( William ) of Nazareth, Pa and Cindy Sutphin Wright ( Glen ) of Titusville, Fla.

7 Grandchildren; Aimee Voss ( Philip), Andrew Epstein ( Clare ), William Epstein ( Katherine ), Mathew Wright ( Nick Tarabini ) Krysta Wright, Kelly Sheldon and Christine Sheldon. 7 Great-grandchildren; Hannah, Jacob, Grace, Liam, Riley, Amber and Samantha along with many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday April 22, 2023 at Yellow Frame Presbyterian Church 1 Yellow Frame Road Newton, NJ 07869. Private burial to follow in the Tranquility cemetery, Green Twp.
