Bruce E. Newton, 76, passed away December 23, 2018. Bruce was a family man who was so proud of his 55 year marriage, his children and grandchildren. He was the owner of Prospect Remodeling and Handyman Service. Bruce taught his children the importance of “righty tighty” and “lefty loosey”, to always have enough food at parties so that no one has to take the last piece of anything, and most importantly, to welcome anyone needing good cheer, good company and laughter. He enjoyed many years by the water at his “river house”. Memories were made during days on the boat, tubing with the grandkids, nights by the campfire, fishing from the pier, tractor rides and not to forget the infamous “booze cruises”. Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Susan, nee Belcher; his children: Kevin (Lisa), Cindy (Mike) Altmayer, and Terrie (Bob) Monaghan; his beloved grandchildren: (SMACJAM) Alyssa, Sean, Monica, Matt, Justin, Cade and Allison; his brothers, Tom and Bob (Mary) Newton; his brothers- and sisters-in-law: BettyAnn, Vic, Gerry, Jimmy, Niece, Leon, Barb, Jerome, Karen, Tommy and Diana; 23 nieces and nephews; 47 great-nieces and nephews; and 5 great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian; his parents, Edgar and Frances Newton; parents-in-law, Edgar and Geraldine Belcher; sister, Patricia; in-laws: Eddie, Bob, Beverly, Kenny, Kenny, Carlene, Judy and Sandy. Finally, Bruce is survived by too many to count friends in Chicago, Des Plaines and Mt. Prospect, IL, Edgerton, WI and North Port, FL. Raise a glass, a cold one, and reflect on the memories he helped create. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
