Maureen Campbell Bashaw

Maureen Campbell Bashaw died on July 5, 2018 in Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 83. Maureen was born in England in 1935. She worked as a reporter for the Fort Myers News-Press for 27 years. She wrote reviews on area theater productions, as well as special interest stories. Maureen's love for writing, led her to write a novel titled - Killerscent. The book, which set idle for many years was finally complete and published from, this in 2011, after the urging of friends and family. Maureen and her late husband Richard were instrumental in forming a local support group for parents of children with autism in the early 1980's. The group started its own non profit - Adonis Autism Center of S.W. Florida. The group issued grants to individuals and their families, providing music lessons, swim, camp, etc .. .freeing the family from this extra financial burden. This group has since dissolved. Now through the Southwest Community Foundation, a fund is set up to continue the disbursement of Adonis' funds, so this legacy continues. Maureen loved going to the theatre with family and friends. Entertainment was always something Maureen loved to do! From having the annual New Year's Eve party to quaint little talks with family and friends ..... she was

always the hostess.

Maureen is survived by her children - Catherine Zipperer, Beth Cameron, Bruce Bashaw and Ian Bashaw. Five grandchildren - Tara Cameron, Holly Cameron, William Zipperer, Rachel Zipperer and Savanna Zipperer. Two great grandchildren - Halle Cameron and Bryson Haskins, one brother Peter (Maureen) Campbell. Maureen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years Richard Gerald Bashaw and by younger brother William (Bill) Campbell. A memorial service will be held July 28, 2018 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2439 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers beginning at 11:00 AM.
