Mildred Arnolia Price, a 50+ yr. member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa, Tx. left this earth on Feb. 28, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Price, Jr. and her only son, David Wayne Price. She is survived by her grandson, Morgan Lee Price, her great granddaughter, Jaden Price, both of whom reside in Lower Burough, Pensylvania. In addition, she has 2 surviving sisters - Thelma Eva Gorney & Ora Lovina Jackson, her 2 nephews - Jay Joiner & Gary Joiner, and her niece, Barbara Young, her great niece, Pamela Luciani, all of whom reside in Boerne, TX. Her great nephew is Marc Allen Young of Dripping Springs, Tx. Lastly, there are two additional great nephews, Carl Stone from Katy & Shawn Joiner from Victoria who are the sons of Gary & Shirley Joiner.
Raised on a ranch in Lea County, New Mexico, Mildred grew up with somewhat competing religious philosophies (Church of Christ from one aunt and Baptist from another aunt). The Baptist won out. Family was always very important to her. After her marriage to J.W., she spent the bulk of her life in Odessa. In her early years in Odessa, Mildred operated the local Merle Norman store. Afterwards, she owned and operated the Candy Kitchen.
Mildred was a devout Christian and loving mother to her son, David. She & J.W. were loved greatly by both friends and family alike; Mildred will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. Byron McWilliams officiating.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
