8 julio , 1937 – 3 mayo , 2020
Marqueita LaVon Nelson Roberts, loving wife and mother, passed from this life May 3, 2020. She was born July 8, 1937, to Diana Elrae Andrews Nelson and Robert Tivis Nelson in Oklahoma City, OK. She grew up with a sense of thrift, independence and responsibility born out of hard times in the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s. These characteristics guided her throughout her life. Her husband, Jerry Roberts, was her high school sweetheart. They were married August 16, 1955 and were partners in life for 64 years. She raised her children with a sense of loyalty and justice and faced her trials with humility and dignity.
She was a champion for the underdog and took notice of things most people miss. She was a dependable, faithful and trustworthy friend. She was a joy to be around and looked for the humor in every situation. She never sought fame or fortune and was content with the simple things in life. She loved her home and took pleasure in doing her work. She took to heart the words of Jesus when he said “Blessed are the peacemakers”. She kept those words and The Beatitudes written on a plaque hung on the wall by the door of her home, her world. She has gone now to her reward and it was a happy day for LaVon when her soul was released from that frail body of pain to live in everlasting peace and rest.
LaVon was preceded in death by her parents Diana and R.T. Nelson, and one daughter Robin Lyn Roberts. She is survived by brother Mike and his wife Ione Nelson; sister Roberta Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members; son Brad and his wife Ginger Roberts; and devoted husband Jerry Roberts.

We have been friends with La Von and Jerry so long they seem like family. Her leaving leaves me lonely and sad. So many memories! When we were all together I remember she was always laughing or getting on to Jerry. She was a very caring person, so careful not to hurt anyone's feelings.
