

He was born on August 26, 1922, in Oswego, NY, the son of Joseph and Julia (Mikus) Chiffer.
Mr. Chiffer was a graduate of New York Mills High School and Hillyer College in Hartford. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy aboard the destroyer USS Picking. He began working at Smith-Holden Dental Supply in Hartford as a delivery boy and retired 53 years later as vice president of the company.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Claire (Stepensky) Chiffer; his sons Edward Chiffer, Jr., and his wife Julie of Andover, CT, Brian Chiffer and his wife Dale of Glastonbury, James Chiffer and his wife Deborah of Cromwell and Mark Chiffer and his wife Rachel of Glastonbury; his grandchildren Edward Chiffer, III, Kelly Chiffer McKay and her husband Scott, Dr. Rebecca Chiffer, Nicole Chiffer-Flores and her husband Gilbert, James Chiffer, Jr., Kathryn, Elizabeth, Margaret and Molly Chiffer; and great granddaughter Alexandra. He was predeceased by his son Capt. John Chiffer, USN, and his brother Floyd Chiffer.
