Eileen Janice Wahler, 84, of Casselberry, Florida, passed away on Saturday, May 8 after a long battle with cancer. Eileen was born in East Meadow, New York on October 8, 1936 to the late Charles Boesel and Georgiana Herberger. She married the late Arthur G. Wahler in 1961 and raised four children in Hollis, New York. Upon the death of her beloved husband, she relocated to Orlando with her son, Scott. She worked at Walmart and Sears before retiring in 2002.

Eileen was a loving, caring and dedicated mother and friend. She loved to knit and crochet and was revered for her made-with-love hand crocheted baby blankets. An avid animal lover, she doted on her family pets, especially her cherished dog, Tinkerbell.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Suzanne Stephan and husband Thomas, Sharon Barriga, and Scott Arthur Wahler; and her grandchildren Christopher A. Barriga, Alyssa M. Gerzanick and her husband Robert, and Austin E. Barriga.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)

Eileen was a wonderful person who added so much joy to everyone she knew. I met her as a coworker at Sears. As a coworker, Eileen was known for her calmness, her sense of humor, and her expertise. Her kindness, and patience were always evident while interacting with customers as well as coworkers. Eileen was an inspiration. She was loyal, earnest, and a treasured coworker. She brightened everyone's day with her warmth and her beautiful smile. Eileen was a caring lady who had an unwavering commitment to her family, her friends, and also her job. I had the privilege to know her and it was a great blessing to have her as a coworker as well as a friend.

Mom,
I can't believe that you are gone. You were always very caring and supportive of me, good or bad. I will never forget all the good times we had together. From our times going to Disney, or going to the movies, or even just sitting around watching Jeopardy.I am very sad you are gone, but happy you are no longer in pain. You can now be with Dad and Tinker Bell in Paradise. I Love You and Miss You Very Much

I had the pleasure of caring for Miss Eileen. She was warm and welcoming. Each time I saw her, she had a sweet and inviting smile. Even in her last days, she would share her big smile and kind words. She was caring and loving, and a wonderful mother. This was proved by the love that her children showed her when they took care of her. She will be missed by many, including myself. I pray for healing for the family, as they mourn the loss of Miss Eileen. But I rejoice in the fact that she is now in heaven, with the Lord, and reunited with many family members, including her beloved Tinkerbell. May her family find healing and peace in knowing that she is no longer in pain and has been made new.

Eileen was my Godmother. I remember visiting her home many times especially during Christmas. I recall one visit when we left our car at their home and took the train to the World's Fair. I always enjoyed visiting with my cousins even though my parents almost always made me wear a tie. Eileen and I are grateful we got to meet with you again recently to catch up on time gone by. My Eileen was pleased to meet you.
Eileen, you were on my mind often and will remain there and in my heart forever.
Rest in Peace Godmother.

Mrs. Wahler was the sweetest most caring person she was loved by so many. She made a blanket for 1 of my sons 19 years ago. Jordan would not leave home without his blanket so Mrs. Wahler made him a smaller one so he could always have one with him. To this day Jordan still has his blankets.

Moving in to a new neighborhood can seem intimidating to the new “kid”. But there you were, with a smile and sweet words to let me know that I was home. You and Tinkerbell were the first neighbors I met and I will never forget that. Thank you for being an amazing, caring , neighbor that I could count on for sweet words and a kind smile after a long day. You will be missed. May you rest in peace, dear.
