Born September 18, 1933 in Green Valley to James P. and Zelma (Fisher) Hamilton, she married Louis A. Hamann on February 19, 1955 in Green Valley. He died July 17, 2011 in Green Valley. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Schrieber Al-Bataineh of Green Valley and Susan (Bob) Hindman of Okeechobee, Florida; one son, Michael Hamann of Pekin; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Benjamin) Deluhery of Manito and four great-grandchildren, Emma Deluhery, Ben Deluhery, Will Deluhery and Stevie Deluhery.
Darlene graduated from Methodist Nurses Training at Bradley University in 1954. She then worked at Pekin Hospital for 29 years. She later worked as the Director of Nursing at Pekin Convalescent Center and retired in 1986.
Darlene enjoyed wintering in Okeechobee, Florida for many years, where she was a lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing Pinochle and Bingo. She was a member of the Peoria Sportsman’s Club and a past president of the Pekin Jaycees. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with and helping her family.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Green Valley Cemetery. Pastor Chris Sansom will officiate. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
