

Rita "Beth" Ratterree Greene of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 after an extended illness. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 8, 1946 to the late Harold and Elizabeth Ratterree of Hapeville, Georgia. She graduated from the Women's College of Georgia in 1968 and went on to teach elementary school for many years. She was chosen as the woman of the year by the Women of Georgia Power in 1976-77 and was president of the Vidalia, Georgia chapter in 1979-80. Beth was an active member of Christ Church United Methodist in Birmingham, where she served as Director of the Pre-School for several years and was active in the United Methodist Women. She is survived by her husband of over 41 years, Tom of Birmingham; four children, Brian of Marietta, Georgia, Shawn of Birmingham, Chris (Stephani) of Monroe, Georgia, and Erin (Clint) of Carrollton, Georgia; two granddaughters, Emaan Greene and Carlee Brannon; and sister, Ann Ratterree of Sharpsburg, Georgia. Beth's family and friends will celebrate her life with visitation 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. The family will also visit with friends from 2 p.m. until the 2:30 p.m. funeral service Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Christ Church United Methodist Church, 5091 Caldwell Mill Road, Birmingham, AL 35244.
