Johnny Thorp, age 94, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Austin and was a World War II Navy veteran.

Johnny retired from the Department of Public Safety where he worked for many years as a mechanic. He was always the “go-to” guy when any of his friends needed something repaired. Johnny loved spending time with his extended family, especially Bentley and Nicholas R. DiCarlo.

Johnny is survived by Roy Triplett, Mary Ruth Sobeck, Sarah Lawson, Peggy Allen, Bentley DiCarlo and Nicholas R. DiCarlo in addition to numerous other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Thorp.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
