Marc Jorden Killingsworth, age 69, passed away surrounded by loved ones on November 8, 2019, after a brief courageous battle with cancer. Marc was born on March 30, 1950, in Austin, Texas, to A.G. and Willene Killingsworth where he grew up and helped with chores on their dairy farm. He graduated from Manor High school and then started a lifelong love of work. Marc worked in many industries including homebuilding, sheet metal, and roofing. He also worked at the Computation Center at The University of Texas at Austin.
For most of Marc’s career he owned and operated H.R. Marc Concrete. He was trying to retire; but, somehow, he appeared at the “shop” almost daily. Marc couldn’t stay still very long. He was never afraid of a challenge and always willing to take risks and go out on a limb. He generally knew how to do just about everything. His traits contributed to his successful business.
Marc lived in Pflugerville for much of his life and there is where he met his beautiful bride, Misti, and married her on April 26, 2002. He was always there to make Misti laugh and at times, pull her hair out. They then moved to Salado where they loved living and enjoying all their amazing neighbors and friends.
He is preceded in death by his son Heath Killingsworth, granddaughter Gracie Killingsworth, parents Willene and A. G. Killingsworth, brother Giles Killingsworth, and sisters Kay Lorenz and Darlene Mitchell.
Marc leaves the following to cherish his memory: wife Misti Killingsworth, sons Ryan Killingsworth and Kaleb Killingsworth, grandson Hudson Killingsworth and his mother Mila Hawkins, sister Sue Holt and husband Gene, brother-in-law Kevin Payne and wife Amy, numerous nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
Marc loved life and lived it to the fullest every day. He never met a stranger - within minutes of meeting someone, they would be entertained by his silly jokes and then begin looking around to see who was in earshot of what he was saying. Strangers became friends and his door was open to all. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. If one needed cheering up, a call to Marc would take care of it. With Marc, it was truly “what you see is what you get”. He made no excuses for who he was and what he believed. One of his greatest pleasures was buying lunch for someone. If you were in Springhill Catfish Restaurant in Pflugerville between 11:00 and noon, you could count on him buying your lunch.
He loved to fish, hunt, garden, mow his grass, piddle in his shop, make sausage, and host big house parties. Somedays, you would see him riding around on his spider with his dog, Claire, on the back. He loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and Grampy. Marc will be remembered as one who is loving, caring, kind, generous, funny, quick-witted and mischievous.
Marc has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Pflugerville since 1977. He attended Gateway Church of Austin for the past 15 years.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for all the love, prayers and support over the last few weeks.
We will be celebrating Marc’s life at a visitation on Wednesday November 13th from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville at 14501 North IH-35. The graveside service will be held on Thursday November 14th at Cook Walden at 1:00 pm.
