George Joseph Zapalac

George Joseph Zapalac, 94, of Port Lavaca passed away April 18, 2021. He was born on March 6, 1927 in Hallettsville, Texas to the late Frank Zapalac and Julia Konvicka Zapalac. He married Minnie Sturm on November 20, 1951 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca.

George was a farmer and tractor mechanic and worked for Calhoun County ISD as a bus mechanic. He enjoyed gardening, playing the accordion and playing dominoes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Minnie Zapalac; brother, Johnny Zapalac; and sister, Annie Mae Chanek.

He is survived by his son, Robert Zapalac; sister, Julia Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
