Mabel Edith Lynn

26 julio, 1943 – 3 junio, 2025
Obituario de Mabel Edith Lynn
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Rollins Funeral Home

Mabel Edith Lynn of Rogers, AR died on the morning of June 3, 2025 due to heart complications at the age of 81. Mabel was born in Colt, Arkansas on July 26, 1943, the daughter of Thomas William Roy and Lola Angeline Hooker. Mabel grew up in Des Arc, AR before moving to Bowie, MD where she worked as a legal secretary at a law firm. She relocated to Bartlesville, OK with her husband and remained there until retiring to Rogers, AR in 1999.

Mabel loved music of all genres. Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson were two of her favorite musicians whom she both saw perform live. At an Elvis concert she saw a young woman steal a ring right off the King’s finger during the show. While attending a performance by Willie Nelson Mabel made her way through a crowded throng by passing out shots of bourbon to get to the stage where she then offered Willie a drink. He gladly accepted.

She was a prodigious reader and read enough books to fill a library. Some of those books were cookbooks–not that she needed any help. She was a talented cook and candy maker who made the best fudge in the country. Mabel was an avid fisherwoman and loved being on the water. It didn't matter if she was catching feisty but tiny bluegill, hauling in crappie for the dinner table, bass lunkers, or catfish almost as big as she was. She was always happy to have a line in the water. Sometimes two or three much to her husband’s consternation.

Mabel’s best friend Glenda had this to say about her, “She transfered to Des Arc school in seventh or eighth grade. We became friends and remained so all these years. She was a real spunky little thing (back then), very smart and really stood up for what she thought was right.” Mabel continued being spunky the rest of her life, right till the end. She was proof that good things do come in small packages. She’d want you to stand up for what you believe regardless of your size. She was tiny, but the hole she leaves behind is enormous. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years Kenneth Wayne Lynn, their children Aimee Beth Lynn of Rogers, AR, and Brian Wade Lynn of Chelsea, MI, grandsons Kenneth William Lynn and Samuel Mikio Lynn of Chelsea, sister Janice Martin-Toll (late Billy Joe and late Tom) of Cabot, AR , nieces, nephews, cousins, daughter-in-law Nobuko Lynn of Chelsea, and her grand dog Luna Lynn of Rogers.

She was preceded in death by Vickie Elaine Lynn, Merle Leroy Hooker, George William Hooker, Neil Preston Hooker, Doris Gene Hooker, Irma Dean Hooker, Freeda Dell Hooker (Cummings), Emogene Fern Hooker (Ingram), Denford Argus “Bunny” Hooker, Lily Lee Joyce Hooker (Turnage), and Wayne “Sue” Hooker.

Mabel will be cremated in accordance with her wishes, and she will remain with her family.

The next time you’re in a casino drop a coin in a slot machine, give that one armed bandit a pull, and think of Mabel.
