The world lost an amazing person on September 1, 2017. Rev. Karl G. Stumpf, also known as ‘Solarman’, passed away at his residence in Roseville, MI.
He was born May 11, 1952 in Detroit, MI to Theora and Earl Stumpf.
Rev. Karl was preceded in death by his stillborn son, Daniel Paul Stumpf; niece, Sharon Lee Lunsford; sister, Sally Ann Stumpf; and father, Earl J. Stumpf. He has now departed this world to join them among the stars.
He left this universe leaving behind his lifetime partner, Linda DeCorte and her daughter, Amber DeCorte; mother, Theora Stumpf; siblings, Susan Lunsford and husband Dave, Keith Stumpf and wife Pamela, Kenneth Stumpf and wife Laurie, Kevin Mitchell and wife Bridget; nieces and nephews, Perry Lunsford and wife Jessica, Sarah Lunsford, Shari Lunsford, Chelsea Trendy and husband Aaron, Carl Schwertman, Sophie Mitchell, Keenan Mitchell, Robert Stumpf; grand nieces and nephews, Jaden White and his father Rodney, Luna Lunsford, Kyle Watson, Ethan Lunsford, Emma Lunsford, Robert Stumpf, Jr., Logan Stumpf; devoted friends,William Chambless, Pete Grippe, John Zawiskie, Joe Girardi, Jim Groth, Dave Vantiem, Terry Duffiney, Rick Freund, and many others.
Karl had several friends and was well liked by many people. He was well known for his passion in Astronomy and Ministry. Those who knew him found him to be quite knowledgeable on numerous subjects and saw him to be a deep thinker with an extraordinary mind. His focus on Astronomy lead him to travel as far as Australia and other places allowing him the joy to view six (6) eclipses with his last one being a total eclipse in Tennessee on August 21, 2017.
As a minister Karl officiated several weddings and with a loving heart helped many people. He was loved by countless number of people.
It is without any doubt Rev. Karl’s life was undeniably unique. He will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is now among the thousands of bright stars in the sky and although he left this world he will never leave our hearts.
A private gathering among family and friends will be planned for a later date.
