Matthew Emil Yakich, 51, of St. Charles, MO passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 2, 2018. He is preceded in death by his mother, Diana Yakich and his brother, Frankie Gene Yakich. He is survived by his father, Frank Yakich; his wife of 25 years, Lisa (nee Best) Yakich; daughters, Amanda Yakich and Alexis (Tyler Britt) Yakich; grandchild, Skyler Britt; grandparents, Gene and Arlene Pellillo; and sister, Angela (Brian) Brooks. Matt was a dear uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Matt served in the US Army and was a strong and fun-loving guy who was a computer whiz. He loved to golf, go fishing, cook, listen to Pink Floyd, and make people laugh. He truly enjoyed his life to its fullest though he had some tough health struggles in recent times. Even though he knew his time here would be cut short, he never let it get him down. Matt always made sure his family was laughing and had a personality that was positive and upbeat. He loved to bird watch and create beautiful bird houses. His family will miss his gourmet cooking and daily escapades but his vibrant spirit and zest for life will forever be remembered.
Friends may help celebrate the life of Matt on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home in St. Ann. His service of celebration will be on Wednesday, August 8 at noon and he will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery following the service.
