Olga Medellin Coronado Forey, 89, died peacefully on August 1, 2024.
Olga was born on February 9, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas to Margarita Medellin Coronado Jimenez and Antonio Coronado, Sr. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Marcelo Jimenez, Sr. Olga often spoke of her fond memories growing up with three siblings in their modest loving home. As a teenager, she was adventurous and free-spirited and retained a great sense of humor and joy throughout her entire life. Olga was fascinated with learning French and loved to travel and spend time at the pool or beach. A family trip to France and Italy was especially memorable for her.
It was at her job as a typist at Kelly Air Force Base where she met Rene Forey in 1955. They began their life together when they married on December 7, 1958. In their 64 years of marriage, their home was filled with many blessings from children, grandchildren and family pets. With five children, their home was filled with love and laughter. There are plenty of home movies and photos to remember the fun and memorable times, including birthdays, barbeques, and holidays. Olga also liked making ceramics to gift to family and friends. At the ripe age of 88, she learned to use Google voice commands to control lights, and play her favorite movies (Midnight in Paris, Funny Girl) and classical music (Nat King Cole, Perry Como and Barbara Streisand).
Olga was blessed with 11 beautiful grandchildren, with whom she loved to share stories of her life and experiences. They will always remember her smile and her love of music, as she spontaneously sang and danced at every opportunity.
Olga was a parishioner at St. John Berchman’s Catholic Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed going to various church activities and playing bingo with friends and family.
Throughout her life, Olga held many jobs where she made lifelong friends. She often recalled her work at Neisner’s Dept. store in downtown San Antonio. She also was proud of her work for SAISD preparing meals for students and staff.
Olga will always be fondly remembered for her positive outlook on life, sense of humor and her “C’est la vie” attitude. Her strength in life came from her strong faith and her ability to appreciate simple pleasures. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Olga is survived by her children, Rene Jr. (Maggie) Forey, David (Cindy) Forey, Roland (Lilian) Forey, Sandra Forey Riojas, and Melissa (Shashi) Forey; her grandchildren, Matthew Forey, Andrew Forey, Elias Forey, Emily Forey, Stephen Forey, Michael Forey, Victoria Riojas, John Michael “Rocky” Riojas, Sofia Pinheiro, Marco Pinheiro, and Julian Pinheiro; and her sister, Blanca Coronado, as well as her sister- and brothers-in-law, nephew and nieces.
