It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Victor E. (Gene) Belvo of Bradenton, Florida, on May 31, 2020 at the age of 87 years. Gene was born on March 5, 1933 in Miamisburg, Ohio to Frank Belvo and Charlotte (Verdell) Watkins. Gene was an all-star in football and baseball at Miamisburg High School. He married the love of his life, Evelyn J. Gebhart, after graduation in 1951. They enjoyed 68 years of wedded bliss.
Gene retired from DuPont in 1991, after a 30-year career in sales that took the family to six states in the Midwest and Florida. Upon retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, traveling and following the Cincinnati Reds and Tampa Bay Rays. Gardening was his passion and his yard was always the best yard in the neighborhood.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all whose lives he touched. He is survived by his wife Ev, and sons Jeff (Sue) Belvo of Bradenton, Rob (Susan) Belvo of Powder Springs, Georgia, and Chris (Amy) Belvo of Clive, Iowa; and daughters Gina (Jim) Lago of Dewitt, Michigan and Tricia (Jeff) Thomas of Excelsior, Minnesota. He is also survived by his brother Fred (Dottie) Belvo and sister Joy (Gary) Yelton as well as 14 grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, who were his great joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Scott, and his granddaughter Sarah.
Due to COVID-19, a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. If you wish to honor Gene, please make a donation in his name to the charity of your choice.
