Mary G. Mazzolla

Maria Luisa “Mary” (nee.Gabelli ) Mazzolla was born December 14, 1934 in Solignano, Italy to Joseph and Josephine Gabelli. At age three, she and her mother immigrated to the United States by ship to Ellis Island to join her father and begin their new life in America. They ultimately settled in the Bronx, NY where Mary attended Roosevelt HS on Fordham Rd and the Fashion Institute. Mary later went on to have a successful career as branch Manager of Citibank and was a Trustee of The Gabelli Foundation.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband of over 37 years, John Mazzolla, and her son R.J. Ponzini of Brewster, NY, his daughter Brianna Ponzini, as well as her daughter Carol Solberg and her son Kyle Solberg of Spring Hill, FL. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Mary leaves behind her devoted brothers Mario (Regina) Gabelli and John (Carol) Gabelli as well as loving nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews and many friends. Mary’s outgoing personality and love of life left an indelible mark on all that knew her.

Following services in N. Myrtle Beach, SC, visiting hours will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home, Scarsdale, NY and a mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 10:00am Friday morning , February 22nd at Sacred Heart Church, Lawton Ave, Hartsdale, NY, followed by burial at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary’s memory to the Valterese Foundation. To make a tax deductible donation to this 503 (c)(3) organization
