89, of Treasure Island, Florida, passed away May 1, 2016 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born February 8, 1927 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, the son of Celestino and Severiana “Diaz” Colon. Juan retired from Youngstown Sheet & Tube as a steel worker in Youngstown, Ohio. He and his wife, Maria spent their winters in Florida beginning in 1978 and moved here permanently in 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Maria, son, Luis, daughter-in-law, Cheryl; 3 brothers, Goyo, Celestino, and Angel Luis Colon; a sister, Merin Colon; and a granddaughter, Beatriz Jovel.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Friday, May 6th at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home, 7950 131st St. Seminole, FL 33776. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00am Saturday, May 7th at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church in Largo. A reception will follow the mass at church.
