We honor Mr. Raymon Grady today and thank him for his years of service to our country. He was born on December 13, 1919 in Amory Mississippi and he passed away on August 1, 2019, six months shy of being 100 years old.
He lived a full life. He was married to his lovely wife, Dorothy Kierbow Grady, for 71 years. She passed away 6 years ago. Together they had two sons, Ramon Dale Grady and James Noel Grady; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and 8 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Ray began his military career with the Army Air Corp for 4 years, then came home for 9 months. Unable to find work, he then joined the Air Force. He traveled to many places with his family including California, New Mexico, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, and up to 40 states throughout his 26 year military career. One time as a rocket was hitting them, he bravely went out rising his life to place a tug on their plane and pulled it in the shelter. During his military career he was honored with 2 bronze stars. At one point in his military career his oldest son, Raymon Dale also joined the military and they served together in the Vietnam War. Dale retired from the military after 20 years of service. Ray’s youngest son, James also joined the military serving in the Marine Corp Reserves for 4 years.
Ray moved to San Antonio and began work at the Post Office where he worked for 18 years, then he retired again. He lived out the rest of his life living in San Antonio, Texas. His son Dale checked on him daily and his granddaughter, Kim Grady kept a close check on her Grandad with many visits. At the age of 99, he had many family members and friends that he made throughout his life. We will be praying for them during this time of grief.
