Hazen L. Swett, 75, of Southington, beloved husband of 57 years to Mary Anne (Sacharko) Swett, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at home after a lengthy illness. Hazen was born in New Britain on September 17, 1946 and was the son of the late Lawrence and Maxine (Turner) Swett. Hazen was a graduate of Plainville High School, and enjoyed working on his class reunions. He retired from General Electric, and Electric Boat. He was an incredible golfer who also worked at Southington Country Club where he played in numerous leagues including the GE Golf league for many years. He finished his golf career as the manager of Northridge Golf Club alongside his good friend Dennis Lovely. He was a die-hard fan of the New York Giants, the Boston Red Sox, and the UCONN men’s and women’s basketball teams. In the 1970’s and early 80’s, Hazen was a coach and also a past president of the Southington South Little League. He was a self- proclaimed “foodie” who loved to watch cooking shows on the Food Network. Hazen also loved to play cards at the Back Nine Tavern and visit the casinos with Dennis. He was the happiest when travelling to various places with his wife, Mary Anne, his daughters, and grandchildren. He was also a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters; Kimberly DiFusco and her husband Silvestro of Southington and Cheryl Swett also of Southington. He is also survived by his two grandchildren; Nicola DiFusco of New York City and Bella DiFusco of Rhode Island. Hazen is also survived by his nephews; Eric Swett, Adam Swett, Zachary Willette, Kyle Willette and by one niece, Noelle O’Toole. He was pre-deceased by his brother Ernest. Calling hours for Hazen will be on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 6:45 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Hazen’s memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
