Helen J. Spence

Helen J. Spence, 96, of Springfield, died at 4:07 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at Heritage Manor. Helen was born on August 11, 1909 in Osage City, KS the daughter of Thomas and Nora Woolary Shields. She married Rollin Denny; he preceded her in death. She later married John Spence; he also preceded her in death. Mrs. Spence worked for Beatrice Foods, Blue Valley and Meadow Gold. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Teamster’s Union. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: James, Thomas and Emer Shields and two sisters: Rose Albright and Mary Shields. She is survived by two sons: Robert (wife, Cynthia) Denny of Crystal Lake and Thomas (wife, Paula) Denny of Springfield; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The remains of Helen J. Spence were donated for scientific study. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Christ The King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant. Burial will be at a later date at Chatham Cemetery in Chatham. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S.
