

She was born in Springfield on November 4, 1939, the daughter of George and Ann (Kamnick) Scott. Rose married Jacob Hutchens, and he preceded her in death. She later married Richard Whitehorn, Sr. He also preceded her in death.
Rose was a faithful member of Cathedral Church of Saint Paul. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing various games- her favorites were playing slots, board games, cards, and bingo. Rose also cherished spending time with her large family. She had 10 children, 2 bonus children, 49 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and several on the way. She enjoyed traveling with her children and their families and creating new memories with them.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lilly Brink; grandchildren, Christopher K. Whitehorn, RoseAmber Hutchens, and Tommy Thompson; brother, George Scott; and sisters, Lillian Scott, Anna Hughes, and Bonnie Schultz.
Rose is survived by her sons, Robert (Reta), Gordon, Loren (Melissa), and Jacob “JD” (Becky) Hutchens; daughters, Carole (Barry) Mesecher, Marilyn Coil, Nettie Thompson, Donna (Dave Dillon) Harris, Lynda (Tim Fromm) Hoover; bonus daughters, Janet Gooden and Theresa (Melvin) Duncan; siblings, Judy Lowery, Marilyn Thompson, Charles (Jane) Scott, and Robert (Mike) Scott.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral: 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home - Springfield, with Very Rev. Andrew Hook, officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
