Jorge passed away at 85 years of age after a bravely fought battle with cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, to parents Luis Jorge Rodríguez Castro and Aura María Triana Rodríguez, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1958, living first in New York City, and later in Maryland, finally spending the majority of his life in Northern Virginia where he and his wife Barbara raised a family. Jorge was an esteemed senior financial officer with the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C., until his retirement in 1988, and was also a board member of its Association of Retirees. He pursued many interests throughout his life, including art, aviation, accounting, teaching, foreign languages, and culinary arts. He was deeply loved and respected by his family and friends for his generosity, intelligence, humor, tenacity and compassion. He is preceded in death by his parents, and by his siblings Luis Alberto Rodríguez Triana and Julio Cesar Rodríguez Urueña. Surviving are his wife Barbara, his five children: Anita; Joseph and fiancée Natalie; David and wife Wanda; William; Patricia and husband Jerry; as well as ten grandchildren, seven siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends around the world. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. A wake service will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA on Thursday, June 12 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Carmelite Monastery, 1318 Dulaney Valley Rd., Towson, MD on Friday, June 13 at 11:00 am.
