

Maria attended St. Joseph's Convent school in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Then continued her education at Colegio de San Jose, Las Palmas, Spain, earning a BA degree.
Upon returning to Liberia she joined Bong Mining Co.as executive secretary to the General Manager, traveling to Germany several times & mastering German. She was also fluent in Spanish.
During Liberia's civil war Maria came to New York City to start a new life with an amazing career at Cichanowicz, Callan, Kean, DeMay as legal secretary, as well as with J. Robbins Securities & Catholic Charities.
Maria was a compassionate, gentle soul who was loved & appreciated by those who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with the family, traveling, connecting with friends & following the latest trends,
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter & Florence Johnson and sister Eunice M. Johnson.
Maria is survived by sisters Elvira Harris of Tallahassee, Fl. Ursula Johnson of Staten Island NY, Irene Johnson of Staten island, NY. Step sisters, Renee J. Johnson, Liberia, Nora J. Garyah, Nigeria
Grace C. Kunn, Texas.
She was a dearly loved second mom to all her nieces & nephews: Daniel Harris, Luisa Corredera Johnson, Florence Davies, Anthony Johnson, Frances Revels, Kristian Ajibulu, Safee Broxton as well as numerous grand nephews and nieces.
A celebration of her life will be held on August 14, 2020, at 11:15 am, St Peter's RC Church, 53 St. Mark's Place, Staten Island. Visitation at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave. Staten Island, 9:00 - 10:30 am
Interment St Peter's Cemetery, 55 Tyler Ave, Staten Island following mass.
