Ed was predeceased by siblings Lloyd Engen, Norma Engen Hofer, Glenn Engen, Clifford Engen, Kenneth Engen and LaVonne Engen Webb.
Ed was married to Arlyce Jean Gartzke on June 17th, 1950 at the Evangelical Church of Watertown, South Dakota. Arlyce caught Ed's eye when she was working at the A&W Rootbeer stand. When she was walking home one evening after work, Ed and his buddies drove by. His friend drove the car up on the sidewalk, blocking Arlyce's way, so that Ed could flirt with Arlyce and get a date. 74 years of marriage followed.
Employment opportunities drew Ed and his young family west to Oregon. Ed spend most of his career working as a manager for SPEC Concrete pipe; first in Eugene, then eventually in Tualatin.
Ed enjoyed hunting. He loved fishing, taking sons Lee and Terry out on salmon charters in the Pacific and daughter Jill casting on Punished Woman's lake in South Dakota. Throughout his life, he enjoyed dining out Sundays in the fellowship of friend from Tualatin Bible Church, as well as TriCity Baptist Church.
In retirement, he mastered the Banjo as well as the Silver Sneakers resist-a-ball. He played golf and enjoyed many winters in Arizona.
Ed was known for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, enduring patience and yummy pancakes. He was committed to his family, loving, providing and sacrificing for them to the best of his ability. Dad did not criticize, always forgave and always believed the best about us. He led by example, keeping no record of wrongs and loved us despite our imperfections.
Ed is survived by his wife Arlyce Engen, son Lee Engen (Linda), son Terry Engen, daughter Jill Michael (Douglas), 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
