Wally passed peacefully on January 25, 2023 after an extended illness while at his residence in Richmond Hill. He is survived by his wife Stella of 63 years, his children Greg (Alison), and Sonia (Chris). Wally is pre-deceased by his parents Alexander and Anastasia Brydun.
Wally was born in Riwne, Ukraine in 1934 and after the war his family made Canada their home in 1946. It was in Toronto that he met his soulmate Stella while with good friends at a local favourite dance spot, The Palais Royale. He spent most of his working life as a manufacturing Manager and also had a knack for product design. He was always well liked by his staff.
Wally was a skillful handyman, a patient and astute instructor; teaching his children home improvements and auto mechanics. He taught them how to drive and passed on his love of motorcycle riding. He had a huge love of the outdoors and nature. His family shares many fond memories of camping and spending time at the cottage. This love of nature was lifelong, and he always enjoyed long walks and reaching out to touch the trees and care for all the birds and animals in his backyard and at the cottage.
Wally will always be remembered as a loving husband and father. His warm disposition, his desire to always lend a hand and to express his love will be cherished by all who knew him. His love was most infectious and he unintentionally taught those around him to always openly express love and kindness.
The family would like to express deep thanks to the staff at Glynnwood for their compassionate care. A private service will be held by the family later this week.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in Wally’s memory to the Canadian Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal (www.redcross.ca/donate/appeal/donate-to-the-ukraine-humanitarian-crisis-appeal) or National Wildlife Centre (www.nationalwildlifecentre.ca).
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kanejerrettnorthyork.ca for the Brydun family.
