Harry James Schopieray, age 66 of Traverse City, passed away peacefully Friday, November 20th at Munson Medical Center with his wife by his side. Harry was born in Traverse City on Jan. 28, 1954 to Harry and Anna (Phillips) Schopieray. He graduated from high school in 1972, and has been a lifetime resident of Traverse City. Harry met his wife Debra Salisbury in 1973, and the couple were married June 22, 1974 in Maple City.
Harry was employed by Max’s Service as their service manager for 47 years. He attended Lake Ann United Methodist Church, and was the past president of the Cedar/Maple City Lions Club. Activities he enjoyed included hunting, fishing, woodworking, and camping, however, nothing compared to spending quality time with his wife and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Debra; children, Trisha (Nick) Garza, Joshua (Susan), and Kimberley Schopieray (Jeremy Manges). Also surviving are his grandchildren Nick Jr., Korrina, Brendan, Abigail, Kaylee, Kelsie, Alivia, Adalynn, Katie and Kolten, and great-grandchildren Mason and Felicity, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Keri Lynn, sister Brenda Bristol, and father in law Raymond Salisbury.
Cremation has taken place, and burial of ashes will be held in the spring at Linwood Cemetery.
