Loving and kind in all her ways

Upright and just, to the end of her days; Sincere and true, in her heart and mind. A beautiful memory left behind. She had a nature you could not help loving. A heart that was purer than gold; And to those who knew her and loved her, Her memory will never grow cold.

Some memories of my Aunt Germaine

We remember how we looked forward to her road trips to Denver with my Mom and Uncle Milton. I especially recall how happy she was when we all went fishing on my boat and Uncle Milton caught a trout and reeled it in. Aunt Germaine even went on our favorite hike, at our condo in the mountains west of Denver at over 9000 feet elevation. This was 20 or so years ago, with the 3 of them being in their late 70’s or early 80’s. The trail was on the edge of a cliff, overlooking beautiful Lake Dillon and was over 1 mile long.
Another memory was at a family luncheon in Denver at my daughter’s 1993 wedding. Aunt Germaine remarked that all the women at the table had, or previously had, the last name of Lauletta. I thought that was a very applicable observation about the occasion.
I also reflect back, that when she was born in 1917, women were not allowed to vote or to be members of congress or on the supreme court. She truly lived in a remarkable time in history, being alive at the end of WW1, during the great depression, WW2, the moon landings, up to a woman running for president of the US and winning the popular vote!

We have 3 pictures of my Aunt Germaine, my fathers older sister, on display in our house in Green Valley. My favorite is the iconic 1934 family photo on the lawn at their summer home on the waterfront of Bangs Lake in Wauconda.
