Stuart and I formed our friendship in Jr. High and remained strong until his death. He was extremely bright, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed a very positive reputation with the girls.. in High School,Stuart never seemed to study and grind, yet he always was in the top 10%...sort of a stealth scholar. We kept up over the decades and he treasured his family and his students. As a physician I marveled at his grit and sense of dark humor to weather the medical challenges he faced. I will miss him dearly. Phillip Marks, M.D.

Carol, Andrea, Brent and grandchildren, Peace and love to you as you miss the daily love and the daily fight your husband and dad put up as he raised and cherished you all. I cannot imagine your grief to have to say goodbye. You’ll be in my prayers for peace.

I am very sorry to hear about Stu's passing. I had the priviliage of getting to know three generations of Bearups over the course of my teaching career. But Stu was the first. I was in Stu's 102 Intro to Literature (still have the assigned text) and Intro to Shakespeare during my fresh and soph years at CSI ca. 1974-75. Stu Bearup was quite simply one of the most memorable and influential teachers that I had. His classes were an absolute delight and helped set the course for my future studies. What a grand fellow he was! I'll never forget Stu Bearup.

Stuart was one of the pillars of the 1960 class of Fort Smith Senior High. Everybody liked him -- especially the girls! (Even my mom thought he was cute.) I know he will be greatly missed by Carol and his family as well as his former students and his Arkie friends from the old days. His admirable courage and continuing sense of humor during his final battle set a high standard for all of us.

When I attended the College of Southern Idaho (the first time) more than 40 years ago, I had two fantastic Literature instructors. They were Stu Bearup and Tom Duncan. On a side note I had Stu's wife Carol as an instructor at Twin Falls High School. The field of education was greatly enriched by these individuals. Literature class was never boring. There were always great discussions. And the usual torture of having to re-work and defend your essays. All these things helped myself and others to become better students. I only remember a handful of my instructors from those early years. This was due to their teaching style and interest in their student's educational journey. I would like to thank Carol Bearup and her family for sharing Stu for so many years at CSI. I shall never forget my two Literature instructors.

When attending C.S.I in 1970 I had Mr. Bearup as my literature instructor. I remember the required class I had to enroll in was Shakespeare . I w as struck with panic with the thought of having to take a Shakespeare class...but Mr. Bearup, someway/somehow, managed to make that class interesting. He provided suggestions on how to tackle this class and upon following those suggestions...I passed the class (Unbelievable). He was a great man and instructor. I'll always remember that class and Mr. Bearup. Thank you Mr. Bearup for your help and patience. Sincerely, Darrell Mullinix
