

Catharina Maria Kroft passed away peacefully at Noric House on April 25, 2017, at the age of 94. She was born October 2, 1922 to Jan and Bertha Wesselingh in Hazerswoude in the Netherlands. She is predeceased by her husband Peter and will be sorely missed by her children and their families. She is survived by two daughters Betty (Gord) Catt, and Mary Kroft of Vernon. Two sons Leonard (Bernadette) of Vernon and John (Treasure) of Cambridge, Ontario, and nine grandchildren; Megan Catt (Curtis Charest) Of Lumby, Josh (Amanda) Catt of Calgary, Lauren Catt, Nicholas, and Cory Kroft all of Vernon, Jericho, Jocelyn, Tristan and Sabina Kroft all of Cambridge, Ontario. Two Great-grandchildren; Gavin and Baxter Charest. She is also survived by one older sister and three younger brothers all in the Netherlands as well as many nieces and nephews.
Catharina came to Canada in 1961 by boat with two friends. She then continued by train to the Okanagan where she married Dad shortly after her arrival. Together they farmed in Lavington until 1988 at which time Len took over the farm. Mom was involved with the CWL as well as enjoyed singing in the church choir. Prior to coming to Canada, Mom worked as a midwife/nurse helping deliver many of her nieces and nephews.
Prayers will be held on Sunday April 30, 2017 at 5:00PM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated Monday May 1, 2017 at 1:00PM Reverend Father Dale Normandeau celebrant at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Interment to follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers those friends wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory of Catharina may do so to the Catholic Women’s League of Our Lady of the Valley Church.
A special thank you to the staff at Noric House for the wonderful care given our mother. She was happy and content in her final years with you.
