With heartfelt sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Margaret Rose Cebuliak in Vernon, on June 10, 2025, at the age of 84. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Franklin Cebuliak, in 2024. In their faith, they will now be together again.
She is survived by her children: Cheryl (Rodger), Michael (Michelle), and Paula, and leaves behind her grandsons, Trevor and Caleb.
Margaret was born in Stettler, Alberta, on May 24, 1941, to her now-deceased parents, Alexander and Helene Gerlitz. She leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories, which she animatedly retold in stories about her siblings: Lydia (and Leon, deceased); Mary (and Bob, both deceased); Clara (and Ernie, deceased); Esther (and George, both deceased); Elsie (and Mickey, both deceased); Joyce (and Glen, deceased); her deceased brother, Alex (and Lorraine); sister Kathleen (and Allen, deceased); brother Dave (and Becky); and sister Linda (and Lorne). Margaret cherished family and social gatherings with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, colleagues, and a wealth of friends.
Margaret spent her early years on a farm in the community of Red Willow, later moving to the small prairie town of Stettler. She had fond memories of cartwheeling under big, blue skies and dropping chores to attentively listen to opera music on the radio in her family kitchen. After her time in Stettler, she moved to Red Deer and met the love of her life, Ken Cebuliak. There, she helped raise her first daughter, Cheryl, before relocating to Prince Rupert, British Columbia, where both Michael and Paula were born. Throughout her life, Margaret cherished her family above all and remained a devoted mother and loving wife until her final days.
Wherever the Cebuliak family lived—primarily throughout the interior of British Columbia—Margaret and Ken made every house a home. They found space for vegetable gardens and time for freezing and canning. Margaret’s well-stocked pantry, brimming with jams, pickles, and canned fruits, was a sight to behold. Food was one of the many ways Margaret expressed her love, and she remained an avid cook throughout her life, sharing countless special meals through her caring relationships and heartfelt conversations.
As her children grew older and more independent, Margaret longed to extend her loving spirit to those less fortunate. In her home support and life skills work in Kamloops and later Vernon, she treated all her clients with dignity, kindness, and respect. Unsurprisingly, this was reciprocated by many. She found this work profoundly rewarding, as it reflected so much of her generous nature.
After her passing, she was lovingly remembered by family and friends as a kind, generous, and loving soul. Margaret will be deeply missed, as she was deeply loved.
Peace be with you, wonderful lady.
