JoAnn and I met many years ago, thru an online group widownet.org. We got to meet while she still lived in Chesapeake and we would get together for lunch. When she moved to Virginia Beach, it was easier for us to do that. She made such a beautiful bride when she married Charlie. Over the years she would tell me stories of her grandchildren and how proud she was of them. She loved those great-grandbabies as they came along too. It was because of her that I decided to find out more about Newborns in Need, and thru them getting my youngest granddaughter involved w/crocheting baby hats, which she donated to a local hospital in Madison AL. JoAnn's legacy will live on, thru another generation of those wanting to help others. JoAnn was one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever met and become friends with. She wished me a Happy Birthday, oh the 4th and I was dumbstruck to hear of her death. She will be missed by so many. Wish I had known about her funeral service. I was waiting for Donna to give me a call or email w/details. So sorry I missed being there. Where is she buried?

Dear Donna, Victoria, Matthew, and All,
We were saddened to hear of JoAnn’s passing. She was a kind and loving person, and I know that she will be missed. Though we did not know her well, we loved her. She was very kind to us, and she loved our LORD.

The LORD bless you, and [l]keep you;
The LORD cause His face to shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His face to you,
And give you peace.’
Numbers 6:24-26 (NASB)

With Prayer, Love and Tears,
Michael and Victoria Chapman
And sons: Timothy and Josiah

Joann was a sweet neighbor of my mother, Martha Murphy, at Lynnhaven Cove for several years. Joann was always kind and helpful whenever my mother needed anything. I enjoyed talking with her during my visits to Lynnhaven Cove. She will truly be missed.

I don't have a memory to share but I can tell all she raised a beautiful man of God named Buck (Matthew). I go to church with Buck and he is an inspiration to all by showing his devoted faith and love in our Heavenly Father. I am a Christian woman and mother of a son. It is every mother's goal and dream to have a child who knows, loves and serves the Lord. Please be very proud Mrs. Chapman of your good works and dedication in raising your children as a Christian mother.

I was Joann’s Sunday School teacher at Plaza Baptist for many years. We spent many good times together especially talking about flowers. Before she moved to Chesapeake she gave me quite a few amaryllis which blooms so beautifully. I will truly miss her. May God give all His Peace and Comfort during this sad time. 🙏🙏🙏🙏. Dotti Allen
