Tell T. Asner, 66, of Virginia Beach passed away October 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Akron, Ohio, Tell was a retired photographer. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy and was a current member of the Civil Air Patrol and served as former Squadron Commander of the Coastal Composite Squadron VA-095 from October 2014 through October 2017. During his CAP service he was recognized with the Air Force Organizational Award, Commander’s Commendation Award from the Virginia Wing and an Achievement Award. He received a degree in History from the University of Montana, worked as a certified ski instructor, spent many years as a competitive swimmer and was the designated ship’s swimmer during his time in the Navy; he loved to play golf and was an enthusiastic outdoors person.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Gross and Beverly Smith. He is survived by Elizabeth Zieger, Matthew and Scott Zieger all of Virginia Beach.
A visitation will be held Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA. A graveside service will be on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. Civil Air Patrol will be providing the Honor Guard and Maj. Carla Warnock will be officiating.

Tell will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His impact will be long felt by those whose lives he touched.
