Wendy M. Bridges

CAYCE – Funeral services for Wendy Matthews Bridges, 39, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with interment in Southland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel.

Wendy was born October 1, 1974 in Columbia, SC to Simon R. Matthews and Ruthie Hornsby Matthews. She was a graduate of Lexington High School and the University of South Carolina with a degree in biology. Wendy lost her battle with cancer seventeen months after being diagnosed. Earlier on she worked in a lab and the family business, Simon Matthews Exterminating Company.

Surviving are her parents; brother, Stephen Matthews and sister-in-law, Tracy; nephew, Tanner and niece, Stephanie; aunt, Vernell Bouknight; uncle and aunt, Karl and Edith Matthews; uncle, Dale Matthews and many friends and special friends, Gena Brown and Troy Whitlaw. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lal and Paige Price in Oncology.

There will be a celebration of Wendy’s Life at the home of her parents after the service. The dress will be casual. Memorials may be made to Lexington Medical Center Foundation, 2720 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169.
