Lupe Martinez

Lupe Martinez, 85, of Marlin, Texas passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 in a Waco hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Spanish Assembly of God in Marlin with Pastor Jonas Davila and Evangelist Joel Davila officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 29th at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with a Prayer service starting at 7:00 PM.

Lupe Martinez was born in Bremond, Texas to the late Camilo and Hortencia Martinez. He married Eulalia Rosas Martinez on January 29, 1952. He was an active member of the Spanish Assembly of God Church, he enjoyed gardening, his church, and loved his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Eulalia Rosas Martinez, five brother, five sister, and one great grandson.

Survivors include his second wife Otilia Martinez of Rosebud, brother Pete Martinez of Chilton, daughters Sylvia Tobias and Gladys Downes of Waco, sons Robert Martinez (Maribel) and Isaac Martinez (Diana) of Waco. He had seven grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart: Salina Martinez, Marcus Downes whom he raised as his own children, Lorie Tobias, Christina Tobias, Robert J. Martinez, Anabel Martinez, Abraham Martinez. He had nine great grandchildren whom he adored: Alexis Rodriguez, Andres Martinez, An’Tonio Simpson, Amia Salazar, Serenity Hilliard, Kaleeya Hilliard, Navaya Walker, Samoni Tobias, Isaac Downes and many family members and friends.
