Margaret June Rayes

Margaret ("Peggy") June Rayes, age 80 of Sterling Heights, died peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital with her children by her side. She was born July 1, 1938 in Detroit, daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (nee: Ammer) Allam.She was the mother of eight children: David Rayes, Paul Rayes, Mike Rayes, Chris (Julie) Rayes, Robert (Michele) Rayes, Jeff (Rhonda) Rayes, Diane (Brian) Dardzinski, and Joe (Jill) Rayes. She was a loving grandmother ("Siti") of Robert, Matthew, Elizabeth, Jillian, Olivera, and Vaughn. She is also survived by four sisters and two brothers. As an avid sports fan, watching her hometown teams was a regular pastime. She was known to spend hours at the casino playing penny and nickel slot machines. The most enjoyable part of her life was evenings out and Sunday night dinner with her children and grandchildren. She loved to roll grape leaves and cabbage rolls served with Siti's rice.Margaret was a fiercely independent and strong woman and above all selfless in caring for those that she loved. She was the nucleus of the family and available for a phone call at all hours of the day and night. She had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh that will be always remembered for its unique quality by those that shared in her most joyous moments. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Visitation for Margaret will be held Sunday, March 17th from 2-8 pm, at the D.S. Temrowski& Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren. She will lie in state on Monday from 11:30 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 12:00 pm at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 38750 Ryan Road in Sterling Heights, Michigan.Memorial donations are welcomed to the American Diabetes Association or to the Gleaner's Food Bank.Please share memories of Margaret in her guest book above.
