Richard Joseph Pado, age 79 of Warren, died Sunday, August 30, 2015 at St, John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born March 29, 1936 in Detroit, son of the late John and the late Mary (nee: Ostrowski) Pado. With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Richard for his service to our country as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Having attained the rank of Private First Class, he served from June 1957 until May 1959, with over a year of that time being served on foreign soil. For the call to duty he answered with bravery and patriotism, we honor Richard's service and share our posthumous gratitude for his willingness to stand in harm's way for the furtherance of the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today…because he was there. For over 42 years, Richard was quite proud of his work with the retail giant, the J.L. Hudson Company in Detroit. While extending the utmost in dedicated service and loyalty, he ultimately attained the position of Warehouse Manager, the position he held upon accepting his well-deserved retirement. But though he was now retired, it certainly didn't mean he was idle. Richard possessed some strong work ethics and a need to stay engaged, so he took up a couple hobbies to satisfy his hunger for work. Being adept with his hands, the hobbies he chose provided the perfect venue to keep him busy. One was refinishing furniture, and the other was restoring antiques. Perhaps not so telling is the fact that both choices afforded Richard an end resolve,…the evidence that his hard work made a beautiful & wonderful difference. When he found the time to set work aside, one of his favorite pastimes was traveling,…something he enjoyed on both land and sea. From the scenic and pampering environments of the cruises he sailed, to the trips enjoyed to places such as Europe, Richard amassed quite the portfolio of destinations visited in his travels to places far & wide. Yet of all the national and international travels he accrued over time, nothing could match the joys and pleasures he experienced while relaxing at the family cottage on Little Long Lake in Harrison, Michigan. He always found great release in exchanging the concrete jungle for a slice of Michigan's "Heaven up north"…a travel destination where the pace is so much slower,…and healthier. Richard was also known for keeping his mind sharp, something he bolstered through the countless crossword puzzles he solved over the years. As for keeping his heart healthy, that was accomplished, in large part, through the loving bond shared with his canine companion, Abby. As the old saying states; nothing comes between a man and his dog. The unconditional care they exchanged meant the world to Richard,…and it showed.Yet of all the love Richard doled out, the greatest and most heartfelt portion was that extended to his dear family, the lights of his life and apples of his eye. His family & friends,…it was they who formed the fabric from whence the tapestry of Richard's life was woven. Spending time in their company never ceased to provide him the sweet release from the stresses of this world, and always made for some precious memories together.A loving husband, father and grandfather, Richard was blessed to enjoy a wonderful life, an amazing family, and was part of some incredible memories for all to embrace with each reflection shared. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Richard was the beloved husband of Geraldine (nee: Smith). Dear father of Laure Pado, Richard (Suzan) Pado, David (Annette) Pado, and Jeffrey (Wendy) Pado. Cherished brother of Alfred (Ruth) Pado, Lawrence (Marilyn) Pado, Barbara (Ron) Isaacson, Sandra Pado, the late John Pado, and the late Robert Pado. He is also survived by 10 lovinig grandchildren. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. Please share memories of Richard at his memory book above.
