Alan Morganstein

Alan Morganstein, 87, died on September 30, 2020, in Jupiter, Florida. He is predeceased by his parents Freida and Jack Morganstein. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 60 years, Toby (Jacobson) Morganstein; two daughters: Sharon Burton (Rob Burton) and Marcy Isdaner (Dan Isdaner); five granddaughters: Abbie and Hannah Burton; Nikki, Mia, and Hallie Isdaner. He is also survived by his sister June Kane (Andrew Kane) as well his niece, nephews, and cousins.

Alan was born in Brooklyn, NY and attended Erasmus Hall High School. He then he received a bachelor’s degree from City College of New York. He enlisted in the army in 1954 and was stationed in Germany for two years. Alan was extremely proud to have served his country in a number of capacities. After returning stateside, he joined the first class at Columbia University to receive an International Business graduate degree.

Alan met Toby through a friend on a blind date and proposed after only three dates! Truly, love at first sight. Recently, after celebrating their 60th anniversary, Alan revealed to friends and family that the secret to his “love affair” with his wife was simple: compassion, compromise and respect. Words his family know he lived by every day of his life.

Alan built his business career, first working at Olivetti-Underwood Corporation in Hartford, CT, then moving to Rochester, NY in 1965, where he worked for Xerox for 24 years. He rose through the ranks of Xerox to become the Product Manager of the Color Copier, the first of its kind in the industry. He had the vision and marketing acumen to bring this product to life. After moving to San Jose, CA for his last position with Xerox, he worked for Canon for a short time in Lake Success, NY. He then launched his own consulting firm, Prime Marketing, before retiring. Alan was humbly proud of his many work accomplishments and the impact he made in the color copier industry.

His endeavors and passions were endless, but his love for traveling the world, his lifelong hobby of stamp collecting, and his never-ending commitment to helping those in need in the Jewish community and beyond, stand out as highlights.

After retiring, Alan became his own travel agent naming his business “ALTO Travel,” which opened a window of opportunity for Alan and Toby to reach a pinnacle goal: visiting Antarctica to complete a tour of all seven continents. As an avid stamp collector, Alan loved to share his knowledge. He was recently honored with an opportunity to deliver a presentation on Jewish people

displayed on stamps to the Society of International Philatelists (SIP), his Berkshire Stamp Club.

Giving back was unconditional and held no boundaries for Alan. He helped Russian-Jewish emigres in the 1970s transition to their new US way of life and helped numerous newfound friends find employment. His ongoing love for the Jewish faith included participating in local Jewish Federations and charities in each of the cities he lived in. Upon moving to Jupiter in 2016, he again immersed himself in the community. Alan mentored an elementary school boy, helping him with math and teaching him valuable life skills at the Edna Runner Tutorial Center. There is only one word for Alan… he was a mensch.
