Ralph Dean Powers

Ralph Dean Powers, 96, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023. He was born on August 9, 1927 in Langdon, Kansas to his parents, Pearl Locke Powers and William Powers. Ralph was one of 9 children. On August 1, 1948, Ralph married Marjorie Baker in Altamont, KS where they lived until moving to Wichita in 1951. Ralph called Wichita home for the next 72 years, raising a family and advancing his career.

Ralph was a loving and devoted husband and father. His greatest joy was his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He could always be counted on to be on the sideline, in the stands at the school programs cheering them on. Even in his younger years, which was not that long ago, he kept active. He was an avid golfer, with 2 holes in one, enjoyed bowling and playing softball. He also enjoyed square dancing and traveling with his beloved Marjorie.

He worked as a machinist his entire career and in 1980 he and 3 partners started 4 Star Tool and Die, Inc. which is still in operation today.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 63 years, Marjorie; brothers, Otis, Donnie, Bob, Bill; sisters, Rosie Olson, Francis Seely ; and daughter-in-law, Janice Powers.

Ralph will be remembered by his children, Mike (Julie) Powers, Sharon (Doug) Overstake, David (Patricia) Powers, Ronald Powers, Judy (Tim) Ridder all of Wichita, KS; 13 grandchildren Darcy (Bill) O'Neill, Amanda (Darren) Wheeler, Courtney (Bret) Kennedy, Jacob Evans, Isaac (Sarah) Overstake, Sara (Kris) Stratton, Matthew (Meghan) Overstake, Emily (Kevin) Cyphers, Stephanie (Ron) Brinkley, Jeff (Rachel) Turner, Justin Powers, Kristen (Junior) Bedell, Amy Jo (Eric) Westerman; 26 great-grandchildren Connor, Delaney, Madison, Hannah (Max), Rylee, Cohen, Alexis (Jarrett), Kaiden, Thomas, Tyler, James, Joshua, Jackson, Elijah, Rowan, Miles, Carter, Trenton, Ethan, Jett, Grant, Carson, Charles, Scarlett, Declan, and Ian; brother Forest (Carol) Powers of Wichita, KS; sister Wanda Hiebert of Holiday, FL; and sister-in-law Betty Powers of Winnsboro, TX.

Services Monday, November 13, Visitation: 10 - 11 am. Celebration of Life: 11 am, both at Lakeview Funeral Home.
