I am so sorry for your loss.  Kevin was an amazing man who I met when he was a dorm director for James Hall and who later hired me at the admissions office.  He helped me by just being who he was and that encouraged me to want to do better.  I am so sorry I never got to tell him THANK YOU as he really did help me stay on the path I needed to be on.  I figured we would run into each other at an alumni event some day and would pick up where we left off as he was that person.  I know I learned from him by example to take care of community and the people are around me and that along with his family is his legacy.  

Every time I think about you a smile forms from my mind to my lips. The talks we had at CCSU before work, after work and while working usually ended with a laugh from you…that what will carry me through this difficult time. You had such Pride and Joy discussing your family. I am so pleased to know you had such happiness in your life. From CT to Va and back again, thoughts of you skip through my memories like our kids once did together. Thank you for your time. Artis Family. 

Dear Mylinda, Mitchell and Jocelyn, words simply can’t express our profound sadness. Kevin is simply one of the kindest and best people I’ve ever known, honest, humble, funny and rock-solid dependable, who took the time to really ask how you are doing and then to really listen, who enjoyed each moment fully and cared enough to help without even needing to be asked. As one of his closest in age in the McCarthy crew - he was a pitcher, I was a catcher, he wore a Yankees hat, mine was Red Sox, he was tall, I was less so - I treasure my memories as cousins: softball at July 4th parties on Sutton Drive, our special visit to Uncle Al and Aunt Marge Whitney’s in Long Island, adventures in Riverside Park, and, more recently, our many conversations by the Sturbridge pool marveling at how fast each others kids were growing up. Mitchell’s post the other day was nothing short of prophetic, and I know Kevin’s broad smile, easy laugh and strong arms are just across the veil, present as ever although we miss him so terribly. I hope Kevin is reminiscing about his days playing Little League on the VFW with his coach, Mike.  Mike would have been proud of Kevin for influencing the lives of student athletes.  Kevin was one of Mr. Heneghan's favorite student athletes!

I had the pleasure of getting to know Kevin through the Commencement committee at CCSU. His kindness, positivity, and deep care for the students was infectious and inspiring.  I only hope to have a fraction of the impact on the CCSU family as he did.  His absence is palpable on campus and will be for years to come.  Sending prayers and my sincerest condolences to Kevin's family and friends.  May you rest in peace, Kevin.  I will miss our conversations about kids and family.

My heartfelt condolences on the loss of Kevin.  I work in the same building as Kevin at CCSU.  We would happen to leave work at the same time and would walk together to our cars often talking "shop" and discussing our families.   Mitchell was also my son's camp counselor for many years.  So Kevin would often give me updates on Mitchell.  I will miss our chats,  his kind spirit and gentle nature.  God bless you all on the loss of your husband and father. My deepest sympathies and condolences to Mindy, Mitchell, Jocelyn and the entire extended family who loved Kevin so dearly.  CCSU and Reslifers morn the loss of a special CCSU community member, and a true Blue Devil who inspired many a student, staff and faculty during his time at CCSU. I only have positive memories of Kevin.  I especially remember his favorite greeting whenever I saw him, “How you doing? How’s the family? Kevin‘s fierce love of his family shined through whenever you spoke to him. May Kevin’s calm, quiet, positive nature be a great influence to all of us as we go about our days.  ☮️💙🙏🏼

       I  was sad to learn of Kevin's death.  He was a great friend.  I remember when he was a Resident Hall Assistant at CCSU just getting started.   30 years ago this year I graduated.  I spent the night before out with Kevin.  We took that wonderful trip to Daytona all 6 of us in my car.  I will never forget that.   Whenever i would come to Connecticut we would visit at CCSU.  I saw how much Kevin enjoyed his work.  
     Kevin found a home at CCSU and gave back so much to the University.  He touched so many lives for the better.
     I am sorry for your loss   I will miss him!  

Dearest Mylinda, Jocelyn and Mitchell,
Words cannot adequately convey my sorrow at the passing of my beloved Kevvy. Such an extraordinarily and deeply kind person and not a phony bone in his body. Just truly and genuinely good. And so funny - always with a twinkle in his eye. The very fondest memories of my childhood were spent at 239 Sutton Drive. So much love and laughter. I will cherish his memory forever. We used to joke as young singles that we would wind up on a porch together in rocking chairs. I’m sure glad he met Mylinda and you both created the family of his dreams. I'm shocked and so saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. Kevin was the dorm director when I was an RA at CCSU in the early 1990s. Kevin had such a wonderful, kind personality. He had a heart of gold, and I can still see his warm smile.  My deepest condolences to Mylinda and their children; may your memories of Kevin bring you peace.

I remember Kevin from Admissions when I was working there from New Britain High.  He was the nicest person.  We will miss him.

My heart sank when I got the news.  Everyone has been speaking of Kevin's shining light,  that was his Heavenly spirit that greeted us. Kevin was my Undergrad Admission boss and when he left UGA I would see him in passing and I would greet him by saying " Hey Best Boss in the World" and he would give me that side grin. I will miss Kevin stopping by my office to sit and talk about life and the future.  He was a kind, gentle soul, he never had a bad word to say about anyone.  He was always so positive and talked about his family  in such a loving way.  He honestly is an example of the way that we should all live our lives.  He touched so many people in such an amazing way,  his memory will live on in all who new him.  Some time I think maybe people like Kevin who are such extraordinary souls  belong in an even better place then the rest of us here on earth!!  Rest In Peace my friend, you were an amazing person!!!

He was a shining light on our campus, a true member of our Blue Devil family. His dedication to students was unwavering, and he treated them with compassion while making sure to teach them responsibility. He was a gentleman, funny, passionate about making a difference, forward-thinking, and dedicated. You looked forward to running into Kevin on campus and sharing a few minutes of conversation with him. He will be desperately missed, but his impact will also resonate for a very long time.

Dear Oliva Family--
Truly sorry to learn of Kevin's passing. Kevin was truly a bright light at CCSU! He was probably one of the nicest people I have met and cared greatly about our students as well as our campus community. Our last conversation was about "how do we help students and how do we help transition them to CCSU after such a trying year"---and this conversation was just a week ago. This is a huge loss for the CCSU community and  I miss him lots! I will miss seeing his number on my caller ID---usually calling on behalf of a student he was working with---Kevin met with hundreds of students but always had a way of making that particular student feel like they were #1.  

Kevin touched many lives at Central.  I had the opportunity to work with him in a couple of capacities.   He was always  pleasant, caring, and dedicated to supporting the success of all students.  He emphasized the "student" part of student-athlete, seeking to support the students under his care to  have the tools to be successful.  The Central community has suffered a great loss, and my prayers are with the Oliva family.

I was very sadden to hear of Kevin's passing.
I worked many years ago ( over 20) with Kevin in the Office of Admissions but  still do remember most definitely his kindness, warmth, and enthusiasm.  He was a wonderful asset to CCSU and I know he has positively affected so many students.  My sincere sympathy to his wife and family.

Kevin was a wonderful person and such a positive influence on everyone he came into contact with. I worked with Kevin for many years,  just upstairs in the library and he would often help me and my students when I was teaching the library research credit course. Kevin was also just two years ahead of me as a student at CCSU. 
I hope you focus on all the happy times  you shared with him and continue his legacy of helping others and being a bright spot in their day. My thoughts and prayers are always with you.

Kevin was one of those rare individuals who was authentic in his altruism, especially towards the athletic CCSU students.  The CCSU community and the world have lost a good friend, counselor and teacher. My thoughts are with his family.

I have no words which could possibly describe the sudden and unexplainable loss of your husband and father.  Kevin was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.  I had a long talk with Kevin at my Uncle Billy's service at the funeral home and then again at Rose Hill right after the burial.  I will always remember those conversations which were like all the rest, upbeat and positive.
