Lawrence J. Lalonde

Mr. Lawrence J. Lalonde, age 80 of Hannawa Falls, NY passed away June 4, 2019 at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton, NY where he had been a resident since March 14, 2017. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 7th at noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Thursday from 4-7. Contributions in his memory can be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. Larry was born on August 2, 1938 in Ogdensburg, NY. He was the son of the late Lawrence and Marion (Carter) Lalonde and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Ogdensburg. Larry married Joyce Hall of Richville in February 1961. He worked as a sales representative for Colony Liquor for over 30 years. He enjoyed all the folks he met along the way and made many friends. After retirement, he worked as a courier for Community Bank.

Larry is survived by his wife, Joyce of Potsdam; son Lance and Dorothy Lalonde of Potsdam; son Matthew Lalonde of New Jersey; grandchildren Cassandra and Tim Bunstone of Colton, NY, Trevor, Garrett and Colby Lalonde of New Jersey and their mother Shelley. Also his great grandchildren Oliver and Henri Bunstone and a sister Leah Martin of Ogdensburg.

He is predeceased by his daughter Michele Lalonde and his sisters Katherine Brown, Marion McNally and Jane Teddy.

He is a life member of the Potsdam Elks Lodge and a long standing member of St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam. He was very involved in Pop Warner Football. Larry loved the New York Yankees. He enjoyed watching them on tv and seldom missed a game.

The Lalonde family would like to express their thanks to the Maplewood United Helpers staff and to Hospice and Palliative Care for their caring and kindness. They were a source of strength for his family.
