I guess for now it's see ya later and never really goodbye.  Today,and always I'll remember how every single time we were together you'd make me laugh! You are my favorite, and will always hold a special place in my heart. You taught me many things in life, but what I'll remember most is to always try and get a bargain;) today when I bought the paper I was only charged for 2 vs the 6 I purchased the check out person asked why I was buying so many, and I mentioned your memoriam. You'd be proud. You made my childhood summers full of beaches to frolick and Shaws ice cream on the way home. You made my adult life so full of love  with your stories of days gone by. I love you so much! It was a privilege to have you as my Grandpa!

On behalf of our family, I’d like to thank everyone for the kind messages, cards, flowers and phone calls we have received. Also, thanks to the many friends and relatives that visited dad over the last few years. This has been a difficult time, but we were very fortunate to be with him when he passed. 

“What a guy” was how I heard most people describe my dad. He was quite the character. If you ever played cards with Harold, you’ll know what I mean. He was a good-natured teaser. When he played Cribbage or Euchre he would purposely miscount his hand or points to see if you were paying attention, and would laugh out loud when he won, which was often. He could drive his opponents to distraction, all in good fun (for him). 

Dad was a patient man. He loved to fix things, or “tinker” as he would say. I was a kid helping him work on his truck once and he needed to take out the battery. I said I could do it. He asked if I was sure because it was pretty heavy. I said I would be fine.  As I was carrying it to the garage, it slipped out of my hands, hit the ground, and broke open leaking battery acid. No angry words, just a quiet clean up of the mess. 

When mom and dad moved from “the farm” in Dorchester, as he referred to it, to live at Cherryhill in London, dad would talk about the learning it took to adapt. When they moved from Cherryhill to Kensington Retirement Village, he said he was learning a lot about growing old. At Parkwood Veterans Care, he would vent his frustrations, but the conversations would inevitably end with a focus on learning to adapt. What a great life lesson. 

Dad cared deeply about his family, expressing his love for us through his actions more than his words. As an adopted child, I feel blessed to have been raised and cared for by Harold and Ethel Brennan. I can’t imagine having a mom and dad who were more loving and accepting. I will be forever grateful for the many years of wonderful memories I have.

We had many fun times with Harold and Ethel over the years. He was such a tall stately man and loved Ethel's giggles.  So sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed.

Harold and Ethel were long time members at our church, Rowntree in London. Harold was a real people person, loved big dinners and social gatherings and euchre.And he was also a thoughtful person, if there was something serious being discussed he usually could share some wisdom but you might have to ask him for it. He was just an enjoyable person to be around and he ‘ll be missed. 


Uncle Harold (Ted) Brennan, a longtime CP engineer, gave me a ride in a steam locomotive in the late 50s, not long before diesel engines took over. I will always hold close my memories of Harold and Aunt Ethel. God speed.

I grew up on a small farm between London and Dorchester and Harold and Ethel were next door.  I remember what good friends and neighbours they were and how Harold loved to tease and joke.  I remember in particular how irritated my Mom was at Harold after he stopped her when she was bicycling down the road to ask her if she knew her wheels were going around.  My condolences to Wayne and Judy and your families.  I am sure you have lots of happy memories.

As a volunteer for our Veterans; Harold & his welcoming smile were something to behold.  Harold's enthuasium for bingo lead me to know Judy; thanks Harold you will truly be missed.

I worked with Harold on CP before he retired. At the time, I was a young brakeman and that meant riding in the locomotive with the 'hogger'. Harold was an interesting character, with a gruff exterior, but 'his bark was worse than his bite'. 
Once I got to know him, I found he was actually a really nice guy. He had an amusing sort of cynical sense of humour & way of looking at some things. 
I live in Kitchener, but get to London because a daughter &  grandchildren live there. When I heard Harold was in Parkwood, I made time to visit a couple of times, once with one of my grandsons. We had enjoyable conversations about 'the good old days'.  
I'm happy that Harold lived such a long life & happy to have known him. My condolences to his family. 

Sorry for your loss, I met Harold while volunteering at Parkwood. Harold will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you for your service, please stand at ease your duties are done. Tonight is our watch. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Mr. Brennan, as I fondly called him had a full and amazing life!  I will think of your Dad every Christmas he made my Mum and I Christmas pins years ago.  So when I bring it out each year I will think of him fondly.
