Norma Gene Terry, 84, of Weyers Cave, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 28, 2014 at White Birch Estates in Harrisonburg where she had resided since August due to declining health.
She was born in Augusta County on June 6, 1930 and was the daughter of the late John B. and Kathryn Racer Alexander.
Norma was a graduate of North River High School and lived her entire life in Weyers Cave. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah UMC and Harrisonburg Order of the Eastern Star. She had been a cafeteria worker at Weyers Cave Elementary School and was a cashier at Augusta County Farm Bureau for ten years before retiring. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed reading, flower gardens and her family.
On March 17, 1950, she married Lawrence E. “Bud” Terry, who preceded her in death on July 13, 2009.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Terry, a son, Nelson Terry and wife, Cathy, all of Weyers Cave; one grandson, Randy Terry and wife, Krista, of Grottoes; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Lily Terry; a sister, Brownie Moats of Weyers Cave; and a brother, Robert “Bob” Alexander of Mt. Crawford.
She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Mervin and her brother, Jared Alexander.
Her body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, October 31, 2014 at Mt. Pisgah UMC, with Rev. John Crawford, III, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
