  • Stewart Gregory Dunbar

    General Manager

    Stewart Greg Dunbar is a native of Columbia and a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina. He is honored to be a fifth-generation member of the Dunbar Funeral Home family, which has served the Columbia area since 1884. Greg ensures each and every family, every time, is treated with the utmost respect, as if they were his own family members. As location manager Greg is very generous with his time in developing the employees and ensuring they have a work and family life balance. Greg Dunbar is a member and past president of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, a member of the Greater Blythewood Chamber of Commerce, Columbia Chamber of Commerce and a longtime member of Eastminister Presbyterian Church in Columbia. Greg ensures our public servants who give their lives in the line of duty receive a memorial respecting their unselfish service in protecting our laws and communities. He is married and together they have six daughters and two grandsons. Greg enjoys cycling, kayaking and golf.

  • Amanda E Bryant

    Funeral Director

    Amanda, or Amy, joined the staff of Dunbar Funeral Home in August 2016. A native South Carolinian, she takes pride in providing a comfortable atmosphere of compassion and trust that evokes the spirit of each personalized funeral service. Since 2005 she has held funeral service licenses and actively served in South Carolina and North Carolina.

    Amy was the recipient of the South Carolina Ladies Auxiliary, Evelyn J. Davis Scholarship for Young Women in Funeral Service. She is a 2002 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service and a member of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practitioners, becoming a certified funeral service practitioner in May 2013.

    Amy is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and has served on various advisory boards, both in civic and volunteer capacities, including the Salvation Army, Salvation Army Soup Kitchens, Civitan International and Special Olympics. She participated in the American Cancer Society - Relay for Life in honor of one her fellow Dunbar coworkers.

    In her spare time she has a passion for traveling, learning new things, attending concerts and theater productions and spending time with family and her new puppy.

  • Uly J Tanner Jr

    Funeral Director

    Uly J, known by everyone as Joey, began working at Dunbar Funeral Home in 1975 at the young age of 17. He obtained his degree in funeral service from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Ga. in 1978. He has progressed through all aspects of the funeral industry, from apprentice to funeral director and embalmer, and is now at the threshold of his retirement. He is grateful to the Dunbar family for allowing him to work in this community and establish a vital reputation among colleagues and clientele. Joey currently assists families with arrangements, whether it be through a traditional service or a cremation service. His annual pilgrimage to the beach with all of his family, including aunts, uncles and cousins, brings him great joy. He is quite involved with the Widowed Persons Organization (WPO), a group sponsored by the funeral home, and his local square dance club. A few of his favorite pastimes are cooking, researching family genealogy on “Find-a-grave" and eating at a favorite restaurant.
