History of Fillmore, California

Fillmore is a small city in the Santa Clara River Valley. The area is known for its rich, fertile soil, which has led to agriculture operating as a major industry-driver in our economy. Main crops include oranges, lemons, avocados and specimen tree farming.

The city of Fillmore derived its name from J.A. Fillmore, who was the superintendent for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Fillmore's historic downtown was established when Southern Pacific built a railroad through the valley in 1887.

As an area Dignity Memorial® provider, we proudly support our community and city's rich history. We look forward to meeting you and assisting your family when the need arises.
